Fele Express Delivery: 2 years since the dream began

In May 2023, after seven years away, I returned to my hometown, Benue State, Nigeria. That trip wasn’t just a personal reconnection; it sparked something bigger. It was there that the idea for Fele Express Delivery first took root, and I acted on it almost immediately.

Being tech-oriented, the first task was clear: find a suitable name, lock down the branding, and build the platform. I designed and developed the website myself and then assembled a team of developers to begin working on the tech infrastructure. I had a crystal-clear vision for what I wanted: a logistics solution powered by robust technology. The tech build-out continued into December that year.

But digital tools alone wouldn’t deliver parcels. We needed boots on the ground literally. That meant setting up a local office, acquiring motorcycles, branding assets, and recruiting reliable riders. What initially felt like a secondary task quickly became the heart of our early operations. Ironically, the app, despite the resources poured into its development wasn’t immediately embraced by the market. It was our physical presence that carried us through the launch phase.

Of course, launching a logistics company in Nigeria isn’t just about bikes and apps. Legal compliance was non-negotiable. Licensing processes were slow and layered as is common but we persisted until every required document was secured. Surprisingly, setting up bank accounts was the easiest step, thanks to the rise of Nigerian fintechs like Opay, Kuda, and others, which made financial onboarding seamless.

By March 2024, Fele Express began handling its first deliveries. I vividly remember the thrill of that moment. We hit the ground running with aggressive marketing and outreach. By June 1, 2024, we officially launched the service, and by then, we were already servicing over 10 local businesses.

Today, June 2025 marks two years since the birth of the idea, and exactly one year of full operations. In that time, we’ve successfully completed over 4,000 deliveries, and we’re now averaging 30 deliveries per day. The journey hasn’t been without challenges but today, we’re not focusing on the struggles. Today is about celebrating the wins, the progress, and the resilience that kept us moving forward when things got tough.

Fele Express has become a trusted logistics partner for many businesses in Makurdi, helping them move faster, serve customers better, and grow with confidence. We’re continually improving our platform upgrading both the app and website and setting our sights on expansion, with Abuja firmly in our crosshairs.

As we celebrate this milestone, I’m filled with pride and gratitude for the team, for our customers, and for everyone who believed in the vision. The journey is far from over. In fact, we’re just getting started.

Here’s to more milestones, more deliveries, and more impact. Fele Express — delivering beyond expectations.
